The Croods is a 98 minute English film, set in a fantasy pre historic era. In this story, the world’s first family has their cave destroyed. They must now undergo a road trip to find a new home. This journey to their new territory is fun filled, strange and adventurous animations, that provides for a fast paced funny adventure. This is a family entertainer and is filled with very cartoonish prehistoric sceneries and characters.
The Croods was both directed and written by Kirk DeMicco and Chris Sanders. This film was premiered on the 63rd Berlin International Film Festival. This film received good to positive reviews form most critics. On a budget of a hundred and thirty five million dollars, the film grossed over five hundred and eighty seven million dollars worldwide. A sequel is expected to be confirmed soon and a television series on the same name and concept have been already put to development. The film was a box office success too.
This film is the first movie to be screened with the 4 DX format. The cinema City Theater screened this movie with tilting seats, blowing wind, fog effects and strobe lighting. The blu ray DVD was released on October 1, 2013, with each DVD accompanied by a plush toy. This film is the fourth highest grossing movie of 2013.
