5:13 AM / Posted by Megaan / comments (1)

Omate Truesmart - a smartwatch with a built-in five megapixel camera - is set to go into production after striking its crowd funding target. The machine raised more than $100,000 of pledges on fundraising site Kickstarter, guaranteeing it will get the cash. Omate's success comes ahead of the much-anticipated launch of a smart watch from Samsung.
Unlike many of the smart watches already on the market, Omate says the True smart can be fitted with a micro-Sim card to make use of its 3G chip. It has not announced when it will unveil the product, but its next scheduled event is at Berlin's If consumer tech show in just over a fortnight's time. This will allow it to make voice calls and send social media messages with no having to be paired with a smart phone or tablet - although that is also an option.

The conclusion comes the day after the social-networking site for professionals launched University Pages, allowing higher education institutions to set up profiles.
Dr Bernie Hogan, of the Oxford Internet Institute, supposed the growth, which takes effect on 12 September, would assist children "distinguish between the public profile they want for employment the personal profile they share on Face book with their friends and relations". However Dr Hogan also warned children could become a nuisance to Linkedin's 225 million existing members if they used the site to have fun or set up profiles with false names.
